Installation & maintenance:
When installing a new trough or belt-conveyor system it is imperative that the correct installation procedures be maintained. If the conveyor stringers are misaligned and the commissioning does not adhere to the manufacturers' guidelines, then the belt-tracking, component failure and spills are likely, no matter how well the conveyor has been designed.

Conveyor belts that are misaligned, damaged, torn, loose, or the incorrect width will reduce the skirts ability for containment. A centrally tracked belt will allow the material to travel positively within the conveyor trough and provide a stable transition during discharge.
Preventative maintenance rather than breakdown maintenance is of primary importance. By implementing a daily maintenance inspection for monitoring belt tracking, material entrapment zones and faulty components, this small labour investment can account for a greater return when considering overall clean-up element and premature component failure.
